CEF mourns sudden death of a director
The Central Energy Fund (CEF) has conveyed its regret at the sudden passing of director Unati Figlan, who also served as the chairperson of legacy entities PetroSA, Strategic Fuel Fund and iGas.
“Figlan played a defining role in strengthening governance, stabilising operations and advancing strategic alignment across the legacy entities during a critical period of transition for the CEF group,” the CEF said on November 28.
The cause of Figlan’s death has not been made public.
Since joining the board in 2022, she played a role in providing leadership, technical insight and oversight that contributed to the organisation’s efforts to reposition itself within the evolving energy landscape.
“Her leadership was characterised by discipline, integrity, and a deep commitment to public service. Under her stewardship, the legacy entities benefited from improved board governance, strengthened risk management practices and enhanced focus on operational sustainability.
“She was . . . respected for her ability to navigate complex organisational environments and bring stability, clarity and strategic direction where it was most needed,” the CEF said.
Figlan was a seasoned engineering professional with more than 20 years of experience across the energy and infrastructure sectors.
“The sudden loss of Ms Figlan is a significant blow to the CEF family. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, colleagues, and all who worked closely with her,” the CEF said, noting her role as Republic of Mozambique Pipeline Investments company director.
